Gorgeous panoramic views over the medieval town and region.
The spacious French villa “Sur Place” with its comfortable guest house is situated high on a hill above the edge of Carcès, at a distance less than 1 km from this cosy medieval village which comprises several lively restaurants, fantastic little bakeries (fresh-baked croissants!) and a characteristic Saturday market. The villa is situated on a terrain of 4000 m² at a height of 50 meters in a quiet rural environment. The grounds consist partially of a wild and partially of a cultivated garden, with several which provides quiet and beauty – and partly landscaped with beautiful gardens and several terraces. The garden and the drive way are fully enclosed with fencing and provided with an entrance gate.
Privacy: Complete
The guest house has its own has private entrance and during your stay you will have the area to yourselves. We as owners will not be present and neither will there be other guests present. You will have complete privacy at Sur Place – and immediately upon your arrival you are likely to have the feeling of space and freedom. The swimming pool is equipped with an automatic control and is completely at your disposal during your stay.
Spacious Terraces
From the spacious terraces in front of the house and round the swimming pool as well as from the guest house you will have a magnificent views of the valley with its vineyards, the gorgeous villages of Carcès and Cotignac and the surrounding mountains. The blue and hazy purples can be enjoyed from all around the property – especially from the terraces in front of and around the house and around the pool and also from the guest house itself. The house is truly uniquely situated. It is highly recommended to enjoy the evenings and nights out on the terraces – what a view on the village lights with the stars above!
Behind the villa there is also a delightfully sheltered terrace where you can escape the midday heat, and enjoy the sweet serenity of this little corner of our garden – by taking a nap or reading in your hammock, swaying between the shelter of the aromatic pines. For your comfort, there are plenty of parasols and lounge chairs available.
Location and lay-out of the guest house: on an equal level beside a splendid swimming pool
The guest house (approx. 80 m²) is located on the same level as the swimming pool (10 x 5 m) and consists of a large living room, 2 bedrooms – each having 2 single beds, a brand-new fully equipped spacious open kitchen, hallway, toilet and bathroom with shower (toilet is separate from bathroom). The guest house is new and equipped with central heating. If needed, a child’s crib and chair are available.
Interior: comfortable and complete
The design of the guest house is enjoyable and complete. The interior is comfortable, clean and well-cared-for. There is a TV with satellite dish reception of Dutch and other European stations (small note: most Dutch stations show American and English sitcoms without dubbing – though under-titled in Dutch – so our English speaking friends can enjoy TV if so inclined). The connection with internet and WiFi gives sometimes problems by bad weather.
Village of Carcès: authentic with hand-painted wall murals
Carcès is a characteristic medieval village with 2.700 inhabitants. There is a vast array of little stores, shops and restaurants to meet almost every need – within walking distance. Every Saturday there is a market – definitely worth a visit (you can see a sampling of the sites in the photo section of our website). At the foot of the hill you will find a very nice supermarket with a large assortment for your daily grocery. There are also various bars, bakeries, shops – and a pharmacy – in the village centre. The various wall murals offer a picturesque insight into the past history of Carcès – and are worth a look. Through a short climb along narrow cobblestone streets, you will find yourself in the ancient medieval part of the village and from “Le Chateau” you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the region beacons before you.
Accessibility from Exit Brignoles
Coming from the “Autoroute du Soleil”, Sur Place is easily accessible via exit number nr. 35 (Le Val/Brignoles) . Carcès is at a distance of 17 km. from this exit.
Day Trips: Mediterranean Sea
Day trips to St. Tropez, Cannes, Grasse and Nice by car (approx. 1 hour) are possible.
Shorter day trips by car are also possible to Aix-en Provence (70 km), Toulon, and Hyères, for example. Draguignan, a rather large town where there is quite a lot to be seen, is situated at 30 km. to the east. The local Tourist Office – ”Office du Tourisme”- is well-documented with information about local and regional activities, festivals and attractions. Whether your passion is food, wine, nature, music, history, architecture, or even shopping, here you will surely be able to enjoy yourself to your heart’s content!
